Oxera has been advising the Co-operative Group (Co-op) in their acquisition of Nisa Retail in the UK, which has just been cleared by the Competition Markets Authority (CMA).
Together the Co-op and Nisa Retail supply or operate around 7,000 stores across the country, so the CMA needed to be assured that the merger does not give rise to competition concerns. During the CMA investigation process, Oxera has provided compelling economic evidence showing that the parties would not have the ability nor the incentive to raise prices or reduce service quality for retail or wholesale customers.
