The future of global antitrust enforcement: the trends and challenges on both sides of the Atlantic

Date: Thursday 11 April, 14.30 – 17.30
Venue: Henley Park Hotel, The Eton Room, 926 Massachusetts Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20001 United States

Join Oxera and Hausfeld on 11 April in Washington DC, for a roundtable discussion on the future of global antitrust enforcement, led by a panel including Michael Hausfeld, Chair Emeritus, Hausfeld; Dr Avantika Chowdhury, Partner, Oxera; Professor Bill Kovacic, George Washington University and Dr Anne-Claire Hoyng, Global Head of Competition Policy, Prosus. The speakers will explore where the current boundaries of antitrust law and economics are being tested and stretched in public and private enforcement on either side of the Atlantic, and where this might take us in 2024 and beyond.

Global antitrust enforcement continues to change at an unprecedented pace. From an increased role of ex ante regulation in the digital space, to legislative reforms giving additional powers to competition authorities more generally, the recent developments point to increased public intervention in markets around the globe. At the same time, the question of the role of antitrust policy in issues such as sustainability, environmental policy and labour markets, and the growth of online activities have triggered actions to modernise the rules and guidance on the application of antitrust law to unilateral conduct and agreements – join us and explore these trends.
