Impact of Centrepoint’s intervention for homeless young people

On October 29th a report by Oxera was published on the cost benefit analysis of the interventions by Centrepoint, one of the largest charities addressing youth homelessness in the UK. This report is being published by ProBono Economics and is a part of Oxera's pro bono portfolio.

The report looks at the economics of early intervention in youth homelessness, and answers the question of whether or not early intervention is costs effective. The analysis suggests that £1 spent by Centrepoint in intervening during the early stages of homelessness, compared with a similar intervention at a later stage, results in potential costs avoided by the public purse of £2.40.
