Reinder van Dijk, Partner and head of Oxera Financial Services practice has joined Oxera’s Governing Board, in recognition of his significant contribution to the development of the firm over the years, in his specific area of expertise, but also in the ways he ensures that Oxera makes an impact.
Reinder has been instrumental in creating and developing Oxera’s Financial Services practice since joining Oxera in 2001 from the Dutch central bank. He has built strong client relationships across Europe and beyond in the core areas of retail banking, insurance and pensions, wholesale markets, trading and post-trading of securities, and payments, working on the one hand for companies and law firms, and on the other hand, for regulators, helping to shape policy—not least designing the Flood Re insurance model in the UK.
He has advised clients on high-profile competition and market investigations, mergers and acquisitions, and supervisory and regulatory investigations. He is well respected at the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the European Commission and other national regulatory authorities in Europe. Further afield, he has advised the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil, and Securities Commission Malaysia.
Reinder is an enthusiastic team leader and has built a very strong team of economic consultants, senior advisers, academics and ex-reguators with a broad range of skills covering finance, competition and behavioural economics, quantitative skills, and expertise in governance.
Commenting on Reinder’s promotion, Dr Helen Jenkins, Managing Partner, said:
‘I welcome Reinder to the Board, and look forward to the insight he has gained over many years working with our clients. In particular, he has a deep understanding of how behavioural economics influences consumer behaviour, which is key to helping our clients develop goods and services that best meet their customers’ needs. Reinder has lots to teach us all about this increasingly important aspect.’
Reinder added: ‘I look forward to working with my fellow Board members in helping to shape Oxera’s strategy and bringing my practical, hands-on experience of working with clients and regulators across many different sectors and jurisdictions.’
